Empowering Southern Oregon Through Generosity

Cascade Family Foundation: Building a Legacy of Giving

Giving back has always been at the heart of James and Anna DeHoog’s family values. With two adult children and a beloved grandchild, they have dedicated their time and resources to making a meaningful impact in their community.

Enriching the Southern Oregon community by fostering a culture of giving and support

Empowering At-Risk Youth

The largest recipient of their charitable giving is Youth 71Five, a faith-based organization that mentors at-risk youth and provides valuable life and job training. James and Anna believe that every young person deserves hope, guidance, and opportunity, and they are honored to support 71Five’s mission of transforming lives through mentorship and faith-driven programs.

Additionally, they are strong advocates for Program Youth +, which helps at-risk youth overcome barriers and gain access to higher education opportunities. By providing mentorship, scholarships, and college readiness support, the program empowers young people who might not otherwise have had the chance to attend college. James and Anna are passionate about ensuring that education is accessible to all, regardless of background or circumstance.

Supporting Women and Families in Need

For years, their children, Emily and Joey, proudly marched in the Grants Pass Boatnik Parade in support of the Zonta Club of Grants Pass, an organization that uplifts women in need. Together as a family, they also helped deliver and assemble beds for single mothers and their children, providing comfort to those who had to leave everything behind.

In the past, their contributions were primarily through time and effort. Today, through years of hard work, the family is also able to give financially. More importantly, James and Anna are instilling a spirit of generosity in future generations—teaching them the power of giving and fostering an attitude of abundance over scarcity.

Investing in Education

In memory of his late sister, James established the Marie DeHoog Memorial Scholarship at Oregon Tech University. As a dedicated member of the OIT Foundation Board, he is passionate about helping young adults pursue higher education and achieve their dreams.

Honoring Military Service

Coming from military families themselves, James and Anna take great pride in supporting active-duty military personnel and veterans. They are honored to work with Quilts of Valor, a program that partners with local quilt guilds to craft and present quilts to veterans affected by wartime service. These quilts serve as a heartfelt “thank you” from the community—offering recognition and appreciation to those who have sacrificed so much.

Advocating for Animal Welfare

James and Anna’s compassion extends to animals in need as well. They are proud supporters of the Southern Oregon Humane Society (SoHumane) and the Josephine County Animal Shelter, both of which provide rescue, care, and adoption services for homeless pets. Their contributions help ensure that vulnerable animals receive the medical attention, shelter, and love they deserve.

Building a Future of Generosity

Through their work in youth mentorship, education, veterans’ support, animal welfare, and community outreach, James and Anna are ensuring that their legacy of giving continues for generations. By leading with compassion and generosity, they hope to inspire others to embrace the joy of making a difference.
